R ruler of Horizontal line
水辺線のR定規
This work represents the Earth’s radius, 6,378.1 kilo- meters, using a curve ruler. It employs a subtle curve ruler that is imperceivable to the naked eye. While evoking the straight line of the horizon, it also invites contemplation of the Earth’s curvature. The artist’s innovative perspective, focusing on the gentle curva- ture of the horizon, is intriguing. It prompts viewers to reconsider their current place on the globe.

誰もが知っているように地球は球体であるにも関わらず、水平線は人の目には直線に映る事がとても不思議でした。
そこで地球の赤道半径6378.1kmの円弧を再現したR定規を作りました。
指でなぞってみても人のスケールではやはり直線に感じてしまう。地球の大きさを改めて実感しました。
